Next up are the “Forests” for our Cave Terrain project. I wanted to keep all the traditional terrain pieces like hills, forests, linear obstacles, and ponds and just put a cave themed twist. So for forests, I had to figure out what to do. I initially thought of stalagmites but that seemed a little boring so I eventually decided on giant mushrooms.

Project Spelunker: Hills Tutorial
Next up in the series of Cave terrain tutorials inspired by the Dark Sercrets campaign is hills. There won’t be much cave specific about these hills other than their paint matching the cave theme.
While I wanted to make cool cave terrain, I also wanted to make a modular board that would allow for a great game of Warmachine. Therefore, I went for all the standard pieces of terrain, including hills.
Project Spelunker: Terrain Bases tutorial
Inspired by the Privateer Press Dark Secrets league I’ve been making a table’s worth of cave terrain. I’ve made a bunch of different pieces and I’m going to be doing articles on how to make these same pieces.
To start, I wanted to cover how to make bases for the pieces.
Project Spelunker: Completed Ponds and Columns
Last time, I posted pictures of my completed Cave themed Hills, Forest, and Linear Obstacle. I finished the 2 ponds and the test piece for my columns(obstructions).
I will be making tutorials for each of these pieces in the coming weeks.
Modeling as always is the lovely Raek.
Project Spelunker: Completed Cave Hills, Forests, Ponds and Linear Obstacle
Project Spelunker continues. This weekend I was able to complete my 2 “Forests”, 2 Hills, and a test Linear Obstacle. I am almost finished with the ponds, they just need a couple of coats of water effects.
Project Spelunker: It begins
I have started construction of some of my cave terrain and I thought I’d post some work in progress shots.
I will be posting how-to guides on each piece when they are done.
Modeling sizes will be my lovely assistant the Raek.
