I occasionally paint a random model I would someday like to play a game with. Painting a model from another faction can help stem the tide of gamer ADD. Here is a Morghul I painted a while back.
As always, any questions and comments are welcome.
As I paint up my Battle Magi for my Retribution army, I have been taking step by step pictures which you should be able to follow along with if you’d like to paint yours the same way.
Here is the test model and I am making only 1 minor change which I will point out when I get there.
As a note before I start, I am using a dark purple as the glow color. You can basically replace this with whatever color you want.
So we recently had a question in our group(The NJSOBs) about how to paint bone on Warmachine/Hordes models. My answer to this was, as it always is, use a wash.
When I was working at a Games Workshop retail store, we were in a mall and therefore required to open at 9AM, but very few gamers came in before 4:30 after school let out and later when people got out of work. I regularly worked the morning shift and with all this free time, I got to batch paint a lot of models for the store, other stores and GamesDay. As you may have figured out, my go to technique was creating custom washes(this was before GW’s glorious pre-mixed washes).
I ended up showing some of the guys the varying effects of creating washes on some spare bits I had, and I thought that I’d share them with the internets.
I took my Retribution to our local tournament this past weekend on 3 games experience. It was a great learning experience and a heck of a lot of fun.
I’ll briefly recap my games and mention some of the important points I took away.
I posted a first version of a Retribution Battle Mage paint scheme yesterday.
I liked it but there wasn’t enough variation in the model so I added an additional color. I painted the leather looking areas with a gray-brown.
Questions and comments are always appreciated.
Howdy Y’all. I’ve started to work on a new scheme for my Retribution.
I first painted Vyros for the Retribution release event and at that point I wasn’t planning on doing a whole army. I went with a scheme very close to the studio scheme.
Now that I’ve decided to do an entire army, I thought about some tweaks to that scheme.
Here are some of the changes I made over the Vyros:
I am considering whether to keep all the cloth green or to use a second(probably brown) color for the straps and satchel.
Obviously the base is not yet painted.
Any comments or suggestions are welcome. I will put up a step by step painting guide once I finalize the scheme.
