I was able to make it over to the first day of Adepticon yesterday. I’m not playing in any tournaments this year as I haven’t had a lot of time to invest in miniatures games since moving back to Chicagoland, but I still thought it would be interesting to check out.
Thursday was a little dead for a mere spectator. The vendor hall was not open yet, unless you were a VIG. I wandered in there before I knew this while they were apparently still setting up and no one stopped me. They later put up signs. This was a little disappointing as the vendor hall was perhaps the thing I was most interested in. I wanted to try out a number of the mini games that I haven’t tried yet and vendor halls are always pretty cool. I also need some more Wild West Exodus stuff. I thought that by coming in on Thursday I could beat the crowds and try some of them out. There wasn’t anything on the schedule saying that the hall would be inaccessible at that time, so I was a little sad. Hopefully I can try some out today.
Games I want to demo include Aetherium, Infinity, Kaosball, and Sedition Wars. Aetherium is an upcoming Kickstarter so it will be interesting to try out. I have picked up some Infinity models, but haven’t actually played yet. Kaosball and Sedition Wars are completed Kickstarters that seemed interesting and it would be great to be able to check out.
I also got to wander around the various tournament rooms. The armies were fun to see, especially all the 40k armies, which are the highlight of Adepticon. I also got to see some Malifaux, Warhammer Fantasy, X-Wing and Warmachine/Hordes. I even got to meet Trevor from Chain-Attack.
Some of the entries for the Crystal Brush painting competition were starting to be displayed and as expected were pretty cool.
Hopefully I’ll have something more interesting to talk about after today, but if was fun to just look around.
